Polyamorous, independant, fun loving, drama free, and honest (except to my kids, who are grown).
My lover says "You're an independant woman who really has a good grip on life and won't live life like other people think you should. You've worked hard and gone through some bad things and haven't let it sour you. Now you're interested in cultivating the full bloom of your life and want to have fun and experience life on your own terms."
I can't say I disagree with that, but to someone who doesn't know me it might sound like I'm selfish. I've spent the majority of my life conforming to what a "good" daughter, a "good" wife, or a "good" mother should be. Now that I'm not responsible to anyone else, I'm not allowing what "people" say is "good" to dictate what I do. I'm using my own definition of "good". I think a "good" person is someone who is honest, who doesn't use others, who tries not to hurt other people, and who is true to their word. I like me. I'm not going to do anything to make me like myself less.
I've been in this relationship for a year and my previous relationship was about 2 1/2 years.
I like to travel and I'm pretty comfortable anywhere, from the ball room to the strip club. I'm not one to cling. If my man wants to go play golf, I'll go get a pedicure and watch glass blowing or something. I don't like fishing, but I'll be content to sit on deck reading and occassionally looking up and saying "WOW! Big Fish!" I like museums, playing craps, theater, eating out, and generally doing whatever a place has to offer.
Politically I lean to the right. I don't disagree with the basis of some of the liberal issues, but I'm totally against the mindless extremeism you tend to encounter. I lived in CA for a while and I was there when houses burned during a forest fire because evironmentalists had managed to get laws passed that made it illegal to cut back the dead underbrush around your home becuase it was habitat for endangered mice and made it illegal to cut/maintain firebreaks. I believe Capitalism works; it's politics that screws everything up. The Democrats cater to the lawyers and teacher's unions and do their best to keep the poor poor and dependant on government, and Republicans cater to big business. The results are unqualified teachers, corrupt big business, and poor people who are conditioned to stay poor.
